Live To Cook: Chef Michael Symon

Michael Symon, Iron Chef, successful owner of Lola and Lolita restaurants in Cleveland, Ohio and conqueror of Dinner: Impossible is am inspiration to me. He cooks the food that he loves, he has the spirit of a rebel and the finesse of a painter. He is a believer in the notion of "nose to hoof" eating. Leaving nothing uncooked or unexplored, in short, he is a wizard with food.

Now I must admit that my knowledge of Chef Symon is limited to what I have seen on TV, which in turn inspired me to learn more about him. His online blog "Symon Says" (which you can find on the links to the right) is a delight to read. In it he shows his love and passion for the life he has chosen. Perhaps the definitive writing done on Michael Symon appears in the book "The Soul of a Chef" by Michael Ruhlman. In it we see the arc of Symon's initial success and understand better why at this point in his career today he has achieved such high acclaim.

I have added to my life goals to someday soon dine at Lola and enjoy his cuisine. Until then, I rely on the Food Network to enable me to enjoy the work of this fine chef. Catch him on Iron Chef America or on Dinner: Impossible and I promise you it won't be a disappointment.

Until next week, take care of one another, eat with a passion, cook with your heart and remember...

Food is Love...
